The Elkins Fire Department is responsible for:

  • Providing an efficient and effective delivery of fire, medical, rescue, and life safety emergency services. 
  • Striving to improve the quality of life for City residents and surrounding rural area by providing public education 
  • Offering ongoing training for firefighters.

Notes from the Department

The Elkins Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1964. Currently they have 24 members, 2 stations and 8 pieces of apparatus. Our ISO rating in the city is a 3, outside city area is a 5. Several members serve on the Washington County Technical Rescue Team (TRT).

Fire Department News

  • The Elkins Fire Department received $3,500 equipment grant from The Arkansas Forestry Commission. This is due to our members working hard to become a FireWise community. Click the link to learn more about the FireWise program.

  • The Elkins Fire Department would like to thank everyone that came out to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting for the new Fire Station. A special thank you to The Elkins Fire Belles for putting on the Chili supper, and the House family for donating the time capsule.
